Covering the village of Sainte-Suzanne and the CIAP

Take time to discover the restored façades and ramparts of Sainte-Suzanne, as well as its rich historical past. Guillaume le Conquérant and Guillaume Fouquet are two key figures in the life of Sainte-Suzanne.

First of all, visit the village, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. You'll be charmed by its narrow flower-lined streets before visiting its fortress and castle, home to the CIAP (Centre détation de l’architecture et du patrimoine de la Mayenne). Built on a rocky outcrop, the history of the Sainte-Suzanne castle has many secrets to tell you about the wars it has witnessed. The CIAP also gives you the chance to discover the Mayenne in a different way. As well as being a permanent exhibition space, it is also an information centre for visitors, offering documentation areas. Temporary exhibitions are also organised to highlight certain aspects of the region. It is also a place for meetings, discussions and events.

Vélo Rail à Saint-Loup-du-Gast

Take a flowery stroll in the open air for a laugh with friends on the Vélo Rail. This unusual ride along the old railway line linking Laval and Craon takes in the magnificent flower-filled village of Saint-Loup-du-Gast. This vehicle accommodates four adults, two of whom have to travel. Grâce à une draisine parcourrez 6 km à travers le bocage mayennais en surplombant la Mayenne sur le viaduc de la Rosserie.

    - Every day in July and August from 11am to 6pm without réservations with a free départ depending on the fréquentatio
    - Sundays and public holidays 11am – 6pm
    - Saturdays in May and June from 2pm à 18h
√ The duration of the tour is approximately 1h
√ 14 cyclo-draisines are available 
√ The bar of the Vélo Rail is only open during the high season
√ For groups requiring 5 or more cyclo-draisines, prior reservation is required (every day from April to October except Sunday afternoons). For the months of July and August, group bookings are only possible in the mornings or at the start of the afternoon.

After enjoying your one-hour Vélo Rail ride, take advantage of the superb Vélo Francette rides to continue discovering the typical landscapes of the Mayenne bocage. The signposting of the Mayenne green route allows you to enjoy the Vélo Francette itineraries freely and with peace of mind. The Vélo Rail de Saint-Loup-du-Gast runs alongside the voie verte d’Ambrières-les-Vallées with the Rosserie viaduct.
