Mont des Avaloirs: the highest point in Western France!
The Mont des Avaloirs in Pré-en-Pail Saint-Samson reaches an altitude of 416 metres. That's all there is to it! From this vantage point, you'll be able to enjoy a particularly unspoilt natural environment, punctuated by some magnificent scenery: the Multonne forest and the Alpes Mancelles. Then climb to the top of the belvedere to see if the saying is true: 'when the weather is fine; you can see Mont-Saint-Michel ...'
From the promontory, the desire to immerse yourself in nature overwhelms you. To your delight, there are plenty of walking routes through the hills and forests to delight enthusiasts. For cycling enthusiasts, there's no better place than the site des Perles, Averton, from where numerous mountain bike trails run along the water.
La corniche de Pail et la réserve naturelle des Égoutelles
Near Mont des Avaloirs, continue your day towards the corniche de Pail. At the heart of a sensitive natural area, moors, towers, woods and meadows intermingle to offer you a grandiose spectacle. Unique in Europe, this remarkable natural site rises to over 350 metres, forms a rocky promontory some ten kilometres long and is covered by a forest. Nature will never cease to amaze you with its regional natural reserve of the moors and the Egoutelles tower in Villepail. Together, they form an unusual biodiversity reserve, with a rich and dense fauna and flora. Nature reclaims its rightful place in this protected natural area. Covering an area of 2 hectares, the site can be accessed via a stilt walkway, which is recognised as a natural area of ecological, fauna and flora interest.
Then on to Saint-Pierre-des-Nids
The site des Toyères, near Saint-Pierre-des-Nids is one of the most picturesque sites in the Alpes Mancelles. The beautiful Toyère offers stunning views over the valley and overlooks the gorges. Perfect for thrill-seekers, the imposing granite cliffs make this an accomplished place for rock climbing. Classified as 'Natura 2000' thanks to its rich flora and fauna, let yourself be surprised by the beauty of the surrounding walks...
